Duncan creates a warm, welcoming, and collaborative therapeutic environment where clients feel seen, heard, and respected. He approaches counselling from a holistic perspective, recognizing that thoughts, emotions, and physical experiences are deeply interconnected. His goal is to support clients in developing insight, building resilience, and creating meaningful, lasting change.
Duncan supports individuals experiencing anxiety, stress, depression, life transitions, relationship challenges, emotional overwhelm, and difficulties related to self-esteem or identity. He collaborates with clients to develop individualized care plans that align with their goals and values. His work focuses on helping clients identify unhelpful thought patterns, process difficult emotions, and develop practical coping strategies to improve day-to-day functioning and overall well-being. He has experience supporting individuals navigating identity, belonging, and relationship dynamics across diverse backgrounds.
Duncan works from an integrated counselling framework, drawing from cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), cognitive processing therapy (CPT), emotion-focused therapy (EFT), dialectical behavioural therapy (DBT), and Satir approaches. His work is also enhanced by trauma-informed, culturally responsive, and LGBT+-affirming practices.
Duncan also works with couples experiencing communication difficulties, recurring conflict, emotional distance, trust concerns, and challenges navigating life transitions. He supports partners in identifying interaction patterns, improving communication, and strengthening emotional connection. His approach focuses on helping partners feel more understood, supported, and secure in their relationship, drawing on principles from the Gottman Method.
Outside of his work, Duncan values connection, community, and maintaining balance through activities such as powerlifting, spending time outdoors, and travelling.
